Music Concert at The Hellenic Centre, 16-18 Paddington Street, London W1U 5AS
A unique concert dedicated to the music of the contemporary composer Constantinos Stylianou who has dazzled audiences worldwide with audacious works such as the opera Picknick im Felde and moving song cycles such as L’Or et l’Ombre. The concert will feature a selection from the cycle 12 Préludes for solo piano, each one inspired by a work of art (painting or sculpture), to be performed by the acclaimed pianist Eleni Mavromoustaki. She will also be joined by thrilling violinist Victoria Mavromoustaki in the UK premiere of his Violin Sonata. The concert will be preceded by a short but thought-provoking panel discussion on the multi-faceted relationship between music and the visual arts, chaired by the composer himself and with the participation of the artist Frixos Papantoniou and the pianist and musicologist Dr Nicolas Constantinou.
The event is organised by the Cyprus High Commission-Cultural Section under the auspices of the High Commissioner for the Republic of Cyprus in the UK, Euripides L. Evriviades.
