Call for Entries of UK-based Cypriot artists

July 31, 2016

The Cyprus Short Film Day 2016 is the first official film event celebrating Cypriot short film in London, organised by the Cyprus High Commission and the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus. The event features six Cypriot short films that won awards at the National Competition of the International Short Film Festival of Cyprus 2015, as well as shorts by young UKbased Cypriot filmmakers. The event will take place on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at 3:30 pm at The Hellenic Centre, 16-18 Paddington St, London W1U 5AS, and will be followed by a Q&A discussion with the filmmakers and drinks reception.

We would like to invite young UK-based Cypriot filmmakers (students and professionals) to submit their short films (of up to 15mins) for consideration to be included in the event’s programme. The CSFD 2016 is an exciting opportunity for young filmmakers to showcase their work in London among industry professionals, cinephiles, film critics and scholars and thus expand their network and audience.

If you are a young UK-based Cypriot filmmaker interested in taking part in CSFD 2016, please send your details and a password protected preview of your film (through a Vimeo link) to:

campangelscontact@gmail.com

Submission Deadline: Monday, August 15
Announcement of selected films: Friday, September 2

* Please note that CSFD is a screening event, not a competition. The event does not pay screening fees and the filmmakers retain all rights to their submitted films. For more info please contact campangelscontact@gmail.com.

CULTURAL SECTION CHC UK

The Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission promotes Cyprus History and Culture in the UK.

We host, organise and support initiatives and events, and create collaborations with cultural institutions, educational bodies, and universities. Our primary aim is to engage the Cypriot community and the wider public in a dynamic cultural dialogue. To this end, we support cultural production by emerging artists in various forms of art (music, theatre, fine arts, film) by providing platforms to show their work and by facilitating their collaborations with international institutions.
