The Third Country: My Little Odyssey

March 8, 2017

Book presentation by Dalia Staponkutė

The High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus H.E Euripides L. Evriviades and the Ambassador of Lithuania in the UK H.E. Asta Skaisgirytė cordially invite you the presentation of the book by Dalia Staponkutė

“The Third Country: My Little Odyssey”

Dalia Staponkutė is an award winning Lithuanian author, living in Cyprus for more than two decades now. Her latest book, The Third Country: My Little Odyssey provides a thought-provoking and self-reflexive perspective on the deconstruction of national, class and gender identity in Cyprus and Lithuania. Her writing moves between personal experiences, languages and countries to create fresh, profound and moving meditations on our inner lives and destinies in these unsettled times of globalisation. The book has garnered great critical acclaim and two prestigious awards - both Lithuanian literary critics and the reading public elected it Book of the Year in 2016.

The presentation will be in English moderated by the Cultural Counsellor of the Cyprus High Commission Dr Achilleas Hadjikyriacou

CULTURAL SECTION CHC UK

The Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission promotes Cyprus History and Culture in the UK.

We host, organise and support initiatives and events, and create collaborations with cultural institutions, educational bodies, and universities. Our primary aim is to engage the Cypriot community and the wider public in a dynamic cultural dialogue. To this end, we support cultural production by emerging artists in various forms of art (music, theatre, fine arts, film) by providing platforms to show their work and by facilitating their collaborations with international institutions.
