Gallery | Contemporary Iconography | 21 May 2019 | The Hellenic Centre

A very successful opening of Elena Papadopoulou’s “Contemporary Iconography” art exhibition took place on Tuesday 21 May 2019 at the Hellenic Centre. The exhibition, which was organised by the Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission and sponsored by the Cultural Services of the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture, included a selection from Papadopoulou’s work divided in three sections: golden, silver and blue.

Papadopoulou’s exhibition was inaugurated by His Excellency the High Commissioner, Mr Euripides L. Evriviades, who welcomed an enthusiastic audience of prominent members of the Cypriot and Greek community of London, as well as art critics, artists and academics. Cultural Counsellor, Dr Marios Psaras gave a short presentation of Papadopoulou’s work, praising the way it renews the Byzantine tradition by incorporating elements from modern art, yet without compromising the immanent spirituality, embedded in the hagiographic content.
