COSMIC BALLS

PRESS RELEASE

“Deeply emotional”, “meticulously crafted”, “excellently curated”, “a cosmic interactive experience”, are some of the enthusiastic responses to Mala Siamptani’s Cosmic Balls art exhibition, which opened on Wednesday 26 June 2019 at the exhibition halls of the Cyprus High Commission in London.

The exhibition includes a site-specific installation of spherical sculptures, made of iron and soil from different areas of Cyprus of emotional significance to the artist, following an extensive research in methods and materials, but most importantly, her own personal journey in the ever-vexed issues of identity and home.

The exhibition was inaugurated by His Excellency the High Commissioner of Cyprus, Mr Euripides L. Evriviades, who stressed the relevance of the exhibition for the Cypriot diaspora, before handing over to Cultural Counsellor, Dr Marios Psaras, who introduced the young London-based artist, designer and researcher, Mala Siamptani, and her work.

The exhibition, which has attracted a massive international audience of art professionals, students, critics, and generally Londoners of all ages and walks of life, also surprised the guests with the opportunity to interact with the artwork through their mobile phones.
