Saturday, 22 February 2020 from 11:00-16:00

Project Season Women presents a staged reading of Natalie Haynes’ novel A Thousand Ships, directed by Magdalena Zira and Athina Kasiou, on February 22nd 2020, at the British Museum in London.

A myth of huge cultural significance for Western civilisation, traditionally told as a story of male heroism, is retold through a choral narration of multiple female characters. The main narrator is Calliope, Muse of epic poetry, who answers the poet’s invocation to “sing” the story of the Trojan War, in an unexpected way.

Supported by the A.G. Leventis Foundation, the Cultural Services of the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth, and the Gilbert Murray Trust. Under the auspices of His Excellency
the High Commissioner of Cyprus Mr Andreas Kakouris.

CULTURAL SECTION CHC UK

The Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission promotes Cyprus History and Culture in the UK.

We host, organise and support initiatives and events, and create collaborations with cultural institutions, educational bodies, and universities. Our primary aim is to engage the Cypriot community and the wider public in a dynamic cultural dialogue. To this end, we support cultural production by emerging artists in various forms of art (music, theatre, fine arts, film) by providing platforms to show their work and by facilitating their collaborations with international institutions.
