EXPLORING ANCIENT CYPRUS |15 February 2020| British Museum




On the 15 th of February, members of NEPOMAK UK participated in a guided tour of the A. G. Leventis gallery of Ancient Cyprus at the British Museum. The tour was led by the Cyprus Curator in the Greek and Roman Department of the British Museum, Dr Thomas Kiely, who also accompanied the visitors to the museum’s reserves for an exclusive viewing of rarely seen artefacts.


The guided tour was preceded by introductory remarks by Dr Marios Psaras, Cultural Counsellor at the Cyprus High Commission, who highlighted the importance of history and archaeology as a guiding light into the present and future, as well as by Dr Kiely, who offered a brief overview of the history of Cypriot archaeology.


This event is the first of a series of community-based initiatives to be led by the Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission in 2020, aiming at engaging targeted groups of Cypriot diaspora as well as international cultural agents in Cypriot culture, both ancient and contemporary.
