mIprojects: a million love songs Opening: 16th of February at 6pm Performance at 7pm mIprojects is an entity formed in 2014 by London based Cypriot artists Anastasia Mina and Helen Michael, graduates of the Royal College of Art. It has to date housed a series of art collaborations disrupting established modes of communication in an effort to locate meaning in contemporary culture. Adopting similar aims the current project, a million love songs, operates as a form of political protest. By dismantling the mechanics of control it becomes apparent that notions of love are often used by those in positions of authority to mask the violence intrinsic to sustaining that dynamic. The current show, a gesture of love in itself, aims to make visible the ordinarily invisible complexity of our contemporary structures of communication, which in turn opens up new possibilities for protest. Armed with new insight, resistance becomes possible and change achievable. The show comprises site specific works inside the gallery space and the opening will be marked by a performance at 7pm on Friday 16 February 2018. Screenings will take place each evening outside the gallery space from 6pm with films from: Markus Vater, Ellie Kyungran Heo, Kineret Lourie, Sam Williams, Yorgos Petrou, Christian Jaskolka and Helen Michael
