THERE IS AN ISLAND III

Cyprus House, London

Tuesday 24 March 2026 | 5:45pm

The Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission in London invites audiences to a special artist-led curated tour of the exhibition THERE IS AN ISLAND III, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the exhibition through the voices of the artists themselves.

Curated by the Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission, THERE IS AN ISLAND III brings together 22 British Cypriot artists living and working across the United Kingdom. Through painting, photography, textiles, ceramics and mixed media practices, the exhibition explores themes that resonate deeply with the Cypriot experience: women, everyday life, and Cyprus as a bridge and crossroads of the Mediterranean.

During this guided tour, participating artists will lead visitors through the galleries of Cyprus House, sharing insights into their creative processes, the materials they use, and the personal narratives that shape their work. The tour invites audiences to move beyond simply viewing the artworks and into a more direct conversation with the artists who created them.

The exhibition presents Cyprus not simply as a geographical place, but as a living cultural landscape shaped by memory, identity, migration and resilience. Landscapes of the island sit alongside fragments of history; textiles of domestic life converse with photography and abstraction, creating a dialogue between past and present, homeland and diaspora.

Artists shaped by different journeys and lived experiences come together within the same exhibition space, forming a rich plurality of voices that reflects the vibrancy and complexity of Cypriot artistic expression today.

Following the curated tour, audiences are welcome to remain at Cyprus House for a Q&A conversation with Dr Marios Papadopoulos at 6:30pm, Artistic Director of the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, offering an evening where visual art and music meet in conversation.

Advance booking is recommended.
