A beautiful literary evening titled ‘Nora at The Fitz’ with award-winning Cypriot author Nora Nadjarian took place on the 30th of January at the A.G Leventis Gallery of Ancient Cyprus at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. The literary event was co-organised by the Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission and the Fitzwilliam Museum.

Cyprus High Commissioner, Mr Andreas S. Kakouris, in his opening remarks, commended the growing relationship between the Cyprus High Commission and the Fitzwilliam Museum, while highlighting the importance of diversity on the island since Nora Nadjarian also represents the Armenian-Cypriot community.

The literary event was introduced by author and editor, Ms Ingrid Jendrzejewski and excerpts from Nadjarian’s short stories and poetry were read by Dr Anastasia Christophilopoulou, Dr Miranda Stearn, Ms Jasmine Brady, Cypriot artist Yorgos Petrou, as well as by the author herself.

The evening concluded with closing remarks by the Cultural Counsellor at the Cyprus High Commission, Dr Marios Psaras and by Assistant Keeper and Curator of the Cypriot Collection at The Fitz, Dr Anastasia Christophilopoulou, who both thanked the author, speaker and readers and expressed their commitment to future collaborative projects.

CULTURAL SECTION CHC UK

The Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission promotes Cyprus History and Culture in the UK.

We host, organise and support initiatives and events, and create collaborations with cultural institutions, educational bodies, and universities. Our primary aim is to engage the Cypriot community and the wider public in a dynamic cultural dialogue. To this end, we support cultural production by emerging artists in various forms of art (music, theatre, fine arts, film) by providing platforms to show their work and by facilitating their collaborations with international institutions.
