A THOUSAND SHIPS by Natalie Haynes

A myth of huge cultural significance for Western civilisation, traditionally told as a story of male heroism, is retold through a choral narration of multiple female characters. The main narrator is Calliope, Muse of epic poetry, who answers the poet’s invocation to “sing” the story of the Trojan War, in an unexpected way. Supported by the A.G. Leventis Foundation, the Cultural Services of the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth, and the Gilbert Murray Trust.
