Cyprus at the European Writers’ Festival 2026

Cyprus is proud to participate in the European Writers’ Festival 2026, taking place on 16–17 May 2026 at the British Library, London.

This year, Cyprus will be represented by acclaimed British-Cypriot novelist Christy Lefteri, internationally recognised for her bestselling novel The Beekeeper of Aleppo. Christy will take part in the panel:


On the Road

Sunday 17 May 2026

Alongside Gonçalo M. Tavares (Portugal) and Artem Chapeye (Ukraine), the discussion will explore themes of movement, displacement, belonging and the personal and political journeys that shape contemporary Europe.

The festival is organised by EUNIC London in partnership with the British Library, the European Literature Network, the EU Delegation to the UK, and the European Parliament Liaison Office in the UK, under the artistic direction of Rosie Goldsmith. Over the course of the weekend, 26 writers from across Europe will gather for conversations, readings and debates reflecting the richness and diversity of European literature today.

To mark the beginning of the festival weekend, the Cyprus House in London will host the Opening Reception on:
