As part of our 2025 cultural season, we are delighted to highlight an upcoming archaeological lecture by Dr Artemis Georgiou, Assistant Professor at the University of Cyprus and a leading voice in the new generation of Cypriot scholars. The event is organised by the Greek Archaeological Committee UK, a long-established charity that promotes Greek and Cypriot archaeology in the UK, and will take place on Tuesday 2 December 2025 at the Hellenic Centre, London.

In her lecture, entitled “Exploring Cypriot connectivity from within: inception, peak and transformation of commercial connections during the Late Bronze Age,” Dr Georgiou will present new perspectives on Cyprus’s central role in the complex trade and communication networks of the Eastern Mediterranean during the Late Bronze Age. Drawing on a wide body of archaeological data, including material from recent excavations, she will explore how Cyprus not only received external influences but actively shaped regional interactions across successive phases of growth, transformation and redefinition.

Dr Georgiou is a graduate of the University of Oxford and the University of Cyprus, and a former scholar of the Greek Archaeological Committee UK. Her research focuses on the material culture, trade, and social dynamics of Late Bronze Age Cyprus, and she is currently involved in excavations and fieldwork across the island.

Tickets for the event will be made available later in the season through the Hellenic Centre’s website. This promises to be a thought-provoking evening for all those interested in archaeology, Cypriot heritage, and the shared histories of the Mediterranean.
