The excavations of the Cyprus Department of Antiquities at Palaepaphos have brought to light burial customs and offerings which resemble strikingly descriptions in Homeric epic (8th Cent. B.C.)

These were introduced by Achaean immigrants at the very end of the Late Bronze Age, thus justifying the term ‘homeric’ for Palaepaphos, well before Homer
