Culture Club at the Residence Hosts: The Art of Balance by Kika Pierides

On 4 June 2025, the Cypriot High Commissioner’s Residence welcomed guests for the opening of The Art of Balance, a contemplative and vibrant solo exhibition by visual artist Kika Pierides, as part of the Culture Club at the Residence initiative.

Through a deeply personal visual language shaped by collage, photography, and abstract pattern-making, Pierides explores the emotional landscapes of healing, transformation, and inner harmony. Her work invites viewers to pause and reflect — to witness how rhythm, stillness, and spontaneity come together to create balance.

The evening was hosted by Mrs Vasso Kinani Kourou, whose vision and generosity have opened the doors of the Residence to artists and audiences alike, making space for dialogue, connection, and celebration of Cypriot creativity.

Adding to the experience was a special live performance by Elizabeth Mikellides, known for her unique practice of Drawing Music. For this occasion, she composed a piece inspired by Kika’s artwork, translating visual emotion into sound — a poetic moment of cross-disciplinary resonance that echoed throughout the evening.

The Art of Balance is more than an exhibition — it is a quiet call to return to the self, to the rhythm of breath and feeling, and to the beauty found in change.
