Cyprus at the European Poetry Festival 2026: A Sold-Out Celebration of Words, Voices and Encounters

For the second consecutive year, Cyprus proudly participated in the European Poetry Festival, welcoming a sold-out audience to Cyprus House in London for an evening dedicated to the transformative power of poetry.

Curated by Steven J. Fowler, the event brought together poets from Cyprus, Greece, the United Kingdom and beyond in a series of unique collaborations created especially for the occasion. Through performance, dialogue and experimentation, the evening celebrated poetry not only as a literary form, but as a meeting place for cultures, languages and ideas.

The event featured performances by Alev Adil and Haris Psarras, Milo Thesiger Meacham and Caitlin Nugent, Theodoros Chiotis and Jonathan Catherall, Stathis Dimitriadis and Yanita Georgieva, Erina Charalambous and David Spittle, Nora Nadjarian and Annie Katchinska, Eleni Kefala and Katerina Koulouri, and Calliope Michail and Xelis de Toro.

The evening began with a curated tour of There Is An Island III, the Cultural Section's six-month exhibition exploring questions of identity, memory and belonging across the Cypriot diaspora. Visitors then gathered for a vibrant celebration of contemporary poetry that demonstrated how artistic collaboration can create meaningful connections across borders and traditions.

In an age often defined by speed and division, the European Poetry Festival offered something increasingly rare: a space to listen, reflect and engage with one another through language and imagination.

The Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission in London warmly thanks Steven J. Fowler, all participating poets, and everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success.
