With Alexis Andreou

Sunday 26 April | 1:00pm | Cyprus House, London

As part of THERE IS AN ISLAND and within the framework of the UK Cyprus Film Festival, Cyprus House presents a special workshop with London-based documentary photographer Alexis Andreou.

This interactive session explores the intersection of documentary photography, narrative construction, text, and the photo book format, offering participants insight into how images are sequenced and shaped to tell compelling visual stories.

Andreou’s practice investigates the post-conflict landscape of Cyprus and the experiences of displaced communities, often incorporating testimony and text alongside photography to create powerful narrative works. His projects frequently take the form of photo books, where images and words come together to create intimate, layered storytelling.

The workshop will begin with a presentation before moving into a hands-on exercise in visual storytelling, where participants will experiment with sequencing photographs and text. Sketchbooks and materials will be provided, and participants are warmly encouraged to bring a small selection of their own photographs or visual material if they wish to work with their own imagery during the session.

Taking place just before the UK Cyprus Film Festival screenings at 4:00pm, the workshop offers a thoughtful bridge between still and moving image, inviting audiences to reflect on how visual narratives are constructed across different artistic forms.

🎟 Places are limited – booking via Eventbrite.
