Photo Gallery | Cyprus Short Film Day | 17 Nov. 2019
The event was held under the auspices of HE the High Commissioner, Mr Andreas S. Kakouris, who opened the day welcoming the filmmakers, who travelled from both Cyprus and the UK to attend the event, as well as the diverse audience in the full-house May Fair Theatre. Dr Marios Psaras, Cultural Counsellor at the Cyprus High Commission, then took the floor to present the film programme of CSFD 2019, as the artistic director of the festival.
The programme consisted of two main screenings of contemporary award-winning shorts by Cypriot filmmakers, including UK-born Cypriots, prepared in collaboration with the International Short Film Festival of Cyprus. It also included a parallel session featuring the premiere of short video-presentations of Cypriot visual artists, as part of director Efi Spyrou’s RUNONART project. After the completion of the screenings followed a Q&A session with the filmmakers Myrsini Aristidou, Alkin Emirali, Marcus Markou, Alexandra Mattheou, and Antony Petrou, monitored by Marios Psaras. The filmmakers discussed about the themes of their films, the adventures of securing funding for their work and their future projects.
There followed a reception in which the diverse audience of film critics, journalists, academics, industry people and members of the Cypriot and Greek communities in London had the opportunity to network and meet the filmmakers.
